A nice decorative piece of nautical navigation equipment that I am told came off a decommissioned life boat, it stands at 9” tall the bottom base measures 9” in diameter the viewing glass measures 5 1/4” diameter, the compass moves around freely and is stamped “SESTREL” there are no breaks to the glass the metal looks to be galvernized below the white paintwork that is starting to flake in places. The string came with the compass so maybe it hung up? As far as I’m aware it is original condition and would clean up if desired.
