A very scarce to find 6 Ft 2 fold surveyors lath, these where not a common measuring tool due to the awkwardness of transporting around and favoured more so by the zig zag rules that could be put into your pocket.
a 2 fold lath with spring stop joint and marked feet and inches in 1/8ths both sides the Feet figures in red ink. These lathes tapered slightly from the joint end being 15/16” in width down to 3/4” at the opening end this was said to act as balance in use. The rule is made from boxwood and is remarkably clean and free from any edge chips, light scratches but every figure is readable.
