A right handed axe. The steel head measures 47 Cm long by 22 cm in height to top of poll. The head has a very sharp single bevel edge. This style dates the axe to late 17th early 18th century, there are two blacksmiths marks initials of “FN” above a cross surrounded with garlands, this is a Christian sign. This axe is from Slovenia region. The handle not known if original or not measures 15 Cm from tip to where it enters into the steel socket, there is mild movement through shrinkage and some old and treated worm holes. These axes are now most certainly all in collectors hands these days.
