A super coffin smoothing plane that although not marked almost certainly made by MATHIESON. The front nose of the steel stamped “STEEL” it is dovetailed construction, the rosewood is beautiful and overstuffed, stamped number 31 behind iron on the infill, the iron probably a replacement is a MATHIESON tapered iron, the original would have been numbered up like the infill. It’s very sharp and has been used till recent times.
