A right handed axe, the steel head measures 51 Cm in length by 19 Cm to the poll top, it has a single bevel, the axe came from Gurkal Carinthia, the style is quite common in the Carinthia and the former Lower Styria regions, this original shape has been much sought after by collectors and now consequently difficult to come by these days. This axe has two blacksmiths marks that are hard to make out and decorated with a cross surrounded by Celtic arcs and points, in itself surrounded by more Celtic arcs and points, a giveaway for the Carinthian region being much a catholic region. The short 16cm handle could be an early replacement with a little movement, it is a nice handle.
Price is inclusive of postage to mainland U.K.
