We have never come across a Doloire axe head of this size before, it has a 14.1/2” cutting edge and weighs just under 3.7kgs, it is right side off set. And had a nice socket hole. The edge has a few nicks along its edge. There is a stamp of “POITEVIN” this is a marshland district of Western France, there is also a language of this name and a chateau. A really superb show piece for any collector.
