A Fantastic and hard to come by gunmetal with steel sole smoothing plane made by Henry Slater, Meredith Street, Clerkenwell, London. The iron and cap iron original to the plane, iron is made by W.Marples who made all irons for Henry Slater. Rosewood infills are free of damage and have some lovely figurine to them the infills are held in by screws inserted to body sides of the plane. The handle is a nice tight grip feel to it and the spur rests down onto your fist when holding in the usable position. There is pitting on the steel sole most probably left sitting upright in the workshop, Nice original strike button on rear of the plane, and the brass lever cap has a crisp makers stamp with exceptional knurling to the nut, these planes dont often come on the market and even more so in this original condition
