A superb vintage slaters hatchet stamped “TACONY #2 SOLID STEEL” the steel is very clean and head is solid on the ash wood shaft that is 12” in length, there is a chip to end of the shaft. The steel head has some wonderful bevels to its edges, the slot is for breaking slates it’s not a nail pull. The poll has a great octagonal shape to it, the cutting edge is double bevelled and measures 3 3/4” across, the edge is good but really needs a sharpening to finish this off, once sharpened you can just see how good the edge will hold.
