A metal box measuring 11” in width by 6 1/2” high by 3 3/4” depth, it has a riveted brass hinged lid that has a brass riveted plate on the front that reads “ BOX PATT 1197 Telephone MFG Co LONDON” there are three lugs one on each side of box and one on bottom for fixing the box to a wall, the hinged lid has a lock plate so a pad lock can be used and bottom of a box has a lug that may have had a chain and key fixed to it possibly, four holes in base of box probably to fix and secure whatever was housed in the box. The metal has been lightly waxed to preserve its original finish.
