A beautiful clean steel 12 1/2” single bevel French side hewing axe, the head is named on top front corner of the steel head. these style of axes are known as a doloire and had various sized handles fitted to them, sometimes where used as a weapon. The blacksmith has welded the handle socket to the main head with a coloured brazing that adds to how these type of tools where made, A super and rare axe head.
