14.1/2” Dovetailed MATHIESON Panel Plane. (36995)

A dovetailed steel plane that is stamped “steel” on front nose of the plane, the plane has been used till recently and iron honed sharp, the iron sits perfect in the mouth of the plane. Some discolouration to steel through age that could be cleaned if desired. The woodwork is in very nice condition, although the front bun has been very well replaced? The joint is about 3/16” down on the flat of the plane, it could even have been made originally like this to save timber as they did sometimes, you can see joint otherwise the graining is great match and would easily be missed. Nice makers stamp on brass lever and a nicely knurled screw cap. A hefty plane ready to put into use. It measures 2.7/8” wide.
