Antique Anders Mattson Sweden, Boring Auger C1890. (37926)
The steel shaft is stamped “AND, MATTSON, MORA, SWEDEN” and with increments in inches up to 29”. The company is well known for making increment tools more so for forestry although this tool is thought to be for testing the thickness of ice. Fluted auger along its length with a stitched leather clad crook handle. The company was set up c1890 before changing names early 1900s. The steel auger has a slight bend along its length, through use. A great piece of history. Full length of this tool measuring 36”.
