SPIERS AYR 15.1/2” Dovetailed Steel Panel Plane. (42623)

Although the steel has dulled and very fine pitting this is an all original piece, the ex owner has etched his name on one side of the steel sides adding to its patina. There is a crack that is solid to inner side of tote. And light wear to end of spur. The iron and cap iron both stamped number #11 and made by WARD. The ex owner again has added a brass sneck riveted piece to top of the iron, most probably for fine adjustment of setting, rosewood infills are very good other than the stated crack. A lovely plane that has lots of character and usage left. Plane measures 15.1/2” long by 2.15/16” width and holds an iron of 2.7/32” width, that sets well and sits tight to front edge of mouth.
